Hydroseeding | Tillers Turf Talk Ep 161

This week at Springwood Farm, we are Hydroseeding.

Hydroseeding is a precise method of applying seed using a mix of water, seed, mulch, sprayed evenly across the soil surface. It’s especially effective for wildflower seeds, which vary greatly in size and require careful, even distribution to ensure consistent germination.

We were joined by our longtime partners, Oliver Brown Limited Countryside Management, who have supported our wildflower seeding for over a decade. Their expertise and attention to detail, especially from team members Josh and Luke, help us hit exacting seed rates, sometimes as low as 2 grams per square metre.

Thanks to excellent compost preparation by Kylie and Laura, the seedbed was perfectly level and ready for application. The added mulch in the hydroseed mix helps retain moisture and keeps seed in place, promoting strong, even growth.

Hydroseeding offers unmatched accuracy and efficiency, and we’re excited to see these wildflower plots bloom in the coming weeks.
